What are the side effects for Omnicef? The side effects aren't what I can find online so far, but I find when I take it for my sinus infections that I become high, in a sense. I really hate this feeling, especially when I need to be concentrating at school, and I have to take this for the next 8 days.

What are the side effects of Duratuss AC12 and Omnicef? I went to a walk-in clinic yesterday cause I was feeling sick.. (Turned out to be bronchitus(sp?)) And he perscribed Duratuss AC12 and Omnicef... What are the side effects? Cause after taking the meds, my stomach has been feeling really weird.. Like, bad weird. It feels like there's air in my stomach... (I didn't eat fast or eat different foods..so it's not that...) I called and asked the doc who was in today, and she told me "its probably from the antibiotics" but acted like it was nothing... It hurts, and I'm wondering if it's cause of the meds? And what are the other side effects? I guess having tummy pains is better than feeling like i have to cough every time i breathe in, though.. hmm Anyway, thanks for your time..and answers..:-) They're appreciated.

What are the side effects of omnicef? I've been taking it twice a day with meals for about a week now, but I've also been feeling very tired and sleepy. I feel like its due to the flu/throat infection that I have, but I started feeling this way when I started taking the medicine. I haven't had any diarrhea, and I was afraid to take it at first because a couple of years ago I was on Zithromax and it ravaged my stomach.

Has anyone had bad side effects from omnicef? I had terrible diarreha and stomache pains with omnicef. I was taking it for a double ear infection. I had to stop and my doctor just called in zithromax. I'm a little scared of taking it because I don't want the same reaction. Anyone have bad side effects with omnicef and not zithromax?

slyter replied: "i have never taken omnicef but try taking acidophilus with your antibiotic. it is not a pre ion you can get it in the vitamin section. it will help with the diarrhea. it is a good bacteria that helps your body deal with the antibiotics."

Toddler taking Omnicef & having side-effects .. HELP!? My 18 month old has been taking Omnicef for the past 3 days for double ear infections. This is the second round of antibiotics she's been on for the SAME infections (she was prescribed Augmentin or whatever on the 13 of October, did the 10 day course treatment, went back to the doctor & her ears were still just as bad as they were to begin with, so they put her on Omnicef) Now on to the concern I have.. She has been having bad diarrhea since it got into her system .. (I've changed her diaper 5 times today because of diarrhea, and that's only over a 5 hour period, when I usually only change 1 poop diaper a day). Starting yesterday evening, I noticed that she now has a HORRIBLE diaper rash. I've been putting Destin on her EVERY TIME I change her, but it's not any better. She screams bloody murder when I change her diapers. I called the doctor & they said it was normal, just keep her clean & dry, and apply Destin or vaseline after every diaper change .. that it's because of the strong medicine and don't worry about it. Well, sorry Charley, but my kid is miserable. Any advice?! I'm desperate!

aabc44 replied: "Severe diarrhea is a side effect of the Omnicef. My child had it at 8 months for double year infection, and sinus. The soft stool (watery in the beginning), lasted for three months - younger child, younger undeveloped gut, I guess. Omnicef is a very powerful antibiotic that kill everything - not only the infection, but the good gut bacteria too. You can only hope hope that he'll feel better soon. You can give him Probiotics (yoghurt) or OTC Lactinex -granulated probiotic to restore the gut bacteria to process the food in his stomach again. The most irritating thing however was that the daycare would not get my child back until had been diarrhea free 24 hr. TRY do do that as a result of 10 day Omnicef. I kept the baby out of daycare for 3 days, and then I told them it wasn't contagious diarrhea, but a side effect of antibiotic. They reluctantly got her back in school, but it was very messy every diaper change. From then on I swore I would never give my kids Omnicef. I went the Augmentin route. Fool me once! The good thing was Omnicef was very effective at killing the ear infection, but the after effects were very messy and I decided not to use it again. Also, if the diarrhea persists for longer, you may want to take the child to the ped to run a C-diff test. That's another bacteria resident in the gut, that compeltely takes over when the good bacteria is decimated (the Omnicef did that). For the rest: frequent diaper changes, pat dry, air out, plenty petroleum jelly and patience. Be mindful with the rash, it has to be properly identified - diaper rash or yeast infection (resident in our tract too). If the skin is bumpy, and white heads like pimple, acnee, it could be yeast infection - We got a pre ion cream that worked wonders - very expensive $180 with insurance - but the little sample tubes the dr gave us worked, plus he gave us a manufacturer coupon that would sell the cream for only $10. We stretched that cream out as possible, and only used a thin film at a time. It was called Vusion. Also give a diet full in starch: rice, and rice boiled water, bread, avoid acidic (juices, orange etc) - the "normal" diet for diarrhea. here, join the club, I posted in 2007 Now, that I re-read my post and others, she woke up few times SCREAMING unconsoleably in the middle of the night - other posters reported nightmares - remember my child was only 8 months at the time, the sreaming may have been as result of nightmares, dunno>"

antibiotics, specifically omnicef, what common uses for and side effects? have a very bad cold, flu like symptoms, no insurance and no money to see a doc, i have a allergy to penicillan, one of my friends has a leftover scrip of omnicef, just like some info about it

rosaofmiami replied: "The flu & colds are viruses.Antibiotics DO NOT kill viruses, they are used to fight bacteria.Improper or overuse of these meds are whats causing SUPERBUGS.Do not take anti biotics unless you really really need them."

Jo replied: "OMNICEF (cefdinir) contain the active ingredient cefdinir, an extended-spectrum, semisynthetic cephalosporin, for oral administration. Cefdinir can be used for : skin, nose, lung, ear, sinus infection. So it can be used for influenza with secondary infection. But, i think the first poster had her point. You should not use AB without prescribtion. Take paracetamol / aspirin / tylenol cold and flu or find some OTC drugs to relieve influenza symptoms. Drink plenty of water, take Vit C, warm compresses, and take some rest. After 2 - 3 days with nothing health improvement, you better see your doctor / ER. Good luck."

Omnicef: side effect questions for 7 yr old girl? My 7 year old daughter has had a sinus infection. We went 3 weeks ago to the Dr. and she was on Zithromax. It seemed to help for a while, but then she developed this crupe cough, and so we went back 2 days later. Dr. said she was doing much better and the cough is part of the sinus infection. She continued with the cough, and I just took her back again and she was apparenly still not over the sinus infection and they prescribed omnicef. I was leery of this, because in the past when she was under 2, she had swelling of her arms and legs and had an allergic reaction. The dr. did tests to make sure she was not allergic about 1 year ago (she was 6) and she is supposed to be ok. She has been on omnicef for 2 days now and just woke up with sore throat and constant thirst. Her skin looks a little jaundice too. I looked on the pre ion information and it says if sore throat happens, call dr. immediately. I don't want to wake up the dr. if I don't need to, but I need advice here. She now has a little rash of bumps on her leg, but acts ok. No fever...

ninjaphobos replied: "My suggestion would be to pump fluids and stop treatment with the Omnicef until you can speak with a doctor. There's not much you can do right now since you've already given her some of it...it's in her system, and the only thing an ER trip would do would cost you $500 to give her....lots of fluids. Chances are, if she's sick, she probably would have had a sore throat anyway...I mean, she's got a croup-like cough. The thirst could be just dehydration from elevated temperature due to the sinus infection. Fever, thirst, sore throat, those are all symptoms of your body fighting an infection. Give her sprite, water, Gatorade, any clear liquids she can hold. If it continues on into the morning or if her condition worsens, call a doctor."

Antibiotic Omnicef giving me bad sid effects? I was given this for my bronchitis before and was fine. Now, it seems like I have gotten worse with a fever, nausea, diarrhea, and my stomach makes grumbling noises non stop! I can't eat or do much.... what should I do to make these side effects go away? I already stopped taking it.

sundaizie replied: "The "reaction" you are experiencing to this antibiotic is not "normal" ..contact your doctor..it could be serious ..or not.. don't mess around with this. Your Dr. will know how to advise you, that's why they call him a "doctor" ... call his office. "

I took the swine flu shot last week and have developed muscle wealkness,i am also taking omnicef.? I took the swine flu shot seven days ago and was feeling ok until a few days ago when i stated feeling weakness in my joints.I was also given a pre ion for omnicef at the same time.I would think that it is the omnicef that is giving me the muscle weakness.I was reading the side effects and muscle weakness was one of them,The strange thing is,it is also seven days later since i started the omnicef. Can the shot or the omnicef giving me side effects 7 days later.Like i said,i would thing it is the omnicef

_kk replied: "im not sure but sometimes shots can make u weak for a while.. then u get used to it."

Me replied: "It could be the shot or a combination of both, though hopefully temporary. Talk to your doctor if it persists or gets worse."
